Action Research Literature Review
The literature review is a crucial stage of the research process. It gives the researcher a solid backbone for building one's study and contributing something to add to the knowledge in the field. In my previous role as a pre-kindergarten teacher, I have confronted children who struggle to understand basic math concepts. To lighten these challenges and increase motivation toward learning, I highlighted gamification newer teaching methodology. The methodology uses elements drawn from games, such as points, levels, and challenges, to construct an interactive learning environment where any learning is taken in through playing. In 5305, Disruptive Innovation, I did my first literature review for my Innovation Plan on using gamification in teaching mathematics. In this subject, 5315, Digital Learning Assessment, I will do an Action Research study to assess how effective gamification is in the mathematical learning of pre-kindergarten children, discussing the potential for gamification to enhance, within early childhood, the children's engagement and understanding of mathematical concepts for deeper and more long lasting learning. I invite you to read the second literature review below more deeply.
